Almost 400 fresh food hampers were delivered to families in need across Sydney just ahead of Christmas, thanks in part to the generosity of Sydney Catholic schools.
Fifty-five schools raised a total of $73,810 for CatholicCare’s Gift of Goodness campaign at the end of last year, and CatholicCare CEO Mark Phillips was full of praise for their efforts.
“Through Gift of Goodness, Sydney’s most disadvantaged families were filled with hope at a difficult time of year,” Mr Phillips said.
“Not only were these families gifted with fresh food hampers; the generosity of Sydney Catholic School students means that CatholicCare’s support can continue throughout the new year and beyond.”
CatholicCare staff were particularly impressed with the efforts of smaller Sydney Catholic schools, including St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Enfield, where the community raised $3,128.20.
